Tribute To A National Icon, David Mark, National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress

We celebrate an extraordinary Nigerian statesman, David Mark, who turns 78 today, 8th April, 2026.

A soldier by training, a patriot by conviction, and a bridge-builder by temperament, his life has remained deeply woven into the story of Nigeria’s UNITY and DEMOCRATIC STABILITY.

Happy birthday to a man of duty, discipline, and destiny.

Today, we honor a distinguished soldier who served Nigeria with courage in uniform and later with wisdom in public office.

From the battlefield of national service to the chambers of democratic leadership, Senator David Mark has consistently stood as a symbol of ORDER, PATRIOTISM, and STATESMANSHIP.

As a military officer, he embodied discipline and sacrifice.

As a politician, he brought calm, maturity, and institutional stability.

As Senate president, his steady hands helped guide the National Assembly through defining moments in our democracy, proving that leadership is not about noise but about strength, balance, and vision.

Beyond titles and offices, he has remained a fatherly figure to many—offering counsel, inspiring younger leaders, standing with and encouraging women while reminding Nigerians that nation-building requires patience, courage, and commitment.

In difficult moments, when the nation needed voices of reason and figures of trust, Senator David Mark has often been one of those rare leaders whose presence reassures and whose words unite.

He is one of those men who, over the years, have helped hold Nigeria together when it mattered most—through turbulent  politics, constitutional tests, and moments that demanded national healing.

Today, we celebrate not just his birthday but also a legacy of service, sacrifice, and uncommon leadership.

May God continue to grant him strength, sound health, peace, and many more years of impactful service to Nigeria and humanity.

Happy Birthday, Distinguished Senator David Mark—soldier, statesman, father, patriot, and one of Nigeria’s enduring pillars of unity.

Enjoy your day, surrounded by those who love you dearly.

God bless Nigeria.

Lauretta Onochie.

Estate of Late Ras Kimono Issues Warning Over Fraudulent Sale of Property in Ogun State

RAS KIMONO PROPERTY IS NOT FOR SALE!

The family and authorized representatives of the Estate of the late Ras Kimono have issued a formal warning to the general public regarding a fraudulent property transaction involving land belonging to the deceased.

It has come to the attention of the Estate that one Sybil Amuta, also known as Sybil Onwubuya Ekure, has been falsely presenting herself as the lawful wife of the late Ras Kimono and, under this misrepresentation, has purportedly sold one plot of land from the Estate’s property located in Ota, Ogun State.

Sybil Onwubuya Ekure.

The said transaction, reportedly concluded on March 17, 2026, involved the sale of the plot for ₦15,000,000 (Fifteen Million Naira), with payment made into an account bearing the name Sybil Onwubuya Ekure.

The Estate wishes to state unequivocally that:
 • Sybil Amuta (aka Sybil Onwubuya Ekure) is the former spouse of the deceased, with their marriage having been legally dissolved in August 2005.
 • At the time of his passing, the late Ras Kimono was legally married to Ms. Cynthia Dumas (since 2007).
 • The said individual has no legal authority or mandate to act on behalf of the Estate or to dispose of any of its assets.

As such, the purported sale of the property is unauthorized, invalid, and of no legal effect.

It is therefore particularly concerning that this same Sybil who funds were raised for in the United States of America to facilitate her and her children’s attendance for their father’s funeral which never happened after she pocketed the funds and never showed up for her supposed “husband’s” funeral neither has she or any of her children visited the burial site of our late father comes back several years after his demise to lay claim to and dispose off property forming part of the Estate which the family intends to preserve and develop in honour of his memory and legacy.

The Estate further warns that there are indications the said individual may attempt to sell the remaining plot of land, and all prospective buyers, agents, and members of the public are strongly advised to refrain from entering into any transaction with her regarding any property belonging to the Estate.

Any person or entity engaging in such dealings does so at their own risk and may be subject to legal proceedings, including recovery actions and claims for damages.

The Estate remains committed to protecting the legacy and assets of the late Ras Kimono and will pursue all necessary legal remedies against any unauthorized dealings.

Signed:
Ogechukwu N Onwubuya Kimono
(Daughter)

W.O.W Africa Advances Continental Leadership with Magazine and Chamber Launch

Johannesburg played host to a high-level gathering of influential African women on March 7, 2026, as the W.O.W Africa 50 Women Honour Circle brought together leaders shaping the continent’s economic, governance, and entrepreneurial landscape.

The private, invitation-only event, held in Sandton, forms part of W.O.W Africa (Workshops of Wealth), a growing Pan-African leadership and capital platform founded by entrepreneur and strategist Lelo N.

The convening attracted a diverse network of leaders from across Africa and the global diaspora, spanning sectors such as enterprise, investment, governance, law, and development. It created a rare and intentional space for collaboration among women driving impact across industries.

Among those recognized were Ambassador Dr. Chanita Foster of the United States, noted for her global humanitarian and development work; Dr. Vivian Mokome, whose efforts in economic empowerment continue to influence leadership and social impact; and Mwanvita Makamba of Tanzania, founder of MMConnect, known for advancing cross-border partnerships.

Also honored were Lenore Goss-Matjie, an entrepreneur and image strategist shaping leadership and brand positioning across the continent, and Fatima Joyce Packery, a key figure in Africa’s mining sector contributing to conversations around responsible resource development and economic participation.

Other attendees included professionals from a wide range of fields such as law, healthcare, real estate, and entrepreneurship, reflecting the platform’s broad reach and influence.

The event also marked the official launch of W.O.W Africa Magazine, a digital publication designed to spotlight leadership, entrepreneurship, governance, and capital development stories from across Africa and its diaspora. The platform aims to document and amplify the work of individuals and institutions driving long-term economic growth on the continent.

Following the Honor Circle, a select group of leaders reconvened on March 9 to initiate the formation of the W.O.W Africa Chamber 100. The Chamber is envisioned as a private, high-level platform bringing together a curated group of leaders operating across enterprise, capital, governance, and development sectors.

Membership into the Chamber is selective, with founding participants being carefully confirmed. The initiative is designed to foster alignment around opportunities that strengthen African enterprise, capital formation, and cross-border collaboration.

The Honour Circle, magazine launch, and Chamber 100 formation all align with the broader vision of W.O.W Africa—to create platforms where leadership, ideas, and capital intersect to shape Africa’s economic future.

Reflecting on the initiative, founder Lelo N noted that the platform was established to recognise individuals actively building the continent while creating spaces that enable collaboration and shared progress.

Building on the momentum, W.O.W Africa is set to host the W.O.W Africa 50 Men Honour Circle on June 6, 2026. The upcoming gathering will recognize men whose leadership reflects responsibility, enterprise building, and support for inclusive economic development across Africa.

As the platform continues to expand, W.O.W Africa is also opening doors for strategic partnerships with organizations seeking to align with its vision of advancing leadership, innovation, and sustainable growth across the continent.
